The Pleasures of Easter
Easter is my favourite holiday of the year. The mornings are crisp, the days just warm enough.
This year we spent Easter in Whakatane, a beaut spot on the East Coast of New Zealand, with my partners family. They have what I describe as an old-school family home, plenty of room for everyone.
Long stays here involve making the most of the gardens fresh produce and least one extreme outdoor activity.
And as time slows down I enjoy engaging with my camera...
Starting with this unfortunate wood pigeon who flew into the window. He was too beautiful not to photograph before burying.
The apple trees were laden so I got peeling and preserving. This will be a winter of apple crumble ; )
On Easter Sunday we headed inland and up, into picturesque countryside.
Creating this photo was my ideal way to spend an afternoon. Wandering the garden picking flowers and fruit. Fossiking in Nani's cupboards for vintage vases.
Thankyou Easter for feeding my creative soul. For connecting me with nature. For providing me fresh produce for my belly. Until next year...
