Retro in the sun

Winter escapes don't get any better than a visit to Australias Gold Coast in the ever sunny state of Queensland.  A week here will recharge your Vitamin D batteries and have you skipping along the pavement in glee.

Burleigh Heads is a suburb, halfway between Surfers and Coolangatta. Even the naughty food you buy here feels healthy. I punctuated my morning walks with an iced coffee and organic fruit bread from Commune Cafe,Canteen Coffee. and Borough Barista

A jaunt up the hill to Mount Tambourine is well worth it, especially on market day.

Shopping prooved fruitful with fab homewares found in and around the main street and cool vintage discovered at The Village Markets.

I confess, my trip to Burleigh was a good few years ago now but two things stuck clearly in my mind. The retro named buildings – i'm a sucker for hand-drawn type and signage – and the discovery of one of my fav homeware brands, Adairs. Unfortunately I discovered the Adairs shop on the last day of my holiday, when my coffers were empty. I signed up to their email newsletters and for years imagined what I would buy IF ONLY they had shops in NZ. And now they do! In fact they have four stores, plus online.

So this mood board is a tribute to the retro summer vibe of Burleigh and the best new ever that Kiwis can now fill their homes with Adairs goodies : )
