The House of Angels – as I have nicknamed it – is the colourful home of Sharon and her standard poodle Pearl.
Pearl – and the Wagener Cooktop fire she lies in front of – are the only two black things in this house. Every surface – from the exterior to the furnishings – has been brushed with colour, pattern, or both. It’s a breath of playful air.
I visited Sharon and Pearl on a bright and brisk autumnal day. We drank chai tea, brewed from scratch in a pan. The table was dressed with vintage linens, mixed – not matched – china, fresh-picked flowers, and a plate of warm banana muffins.
Sharons muffin recipe is now on my regular rotation list : )
Sharon enjoys making mosaics. She made this one on her front doorstep from chipped plates and cups from her china collection. Stepping over the threshold, the House of Angels lovingly wraps you in a comfortable blanket of homeliness.
Things we love about Sharons home:
We enjoyed the carefree, eclectic nature of Sharons space soooooo much that we’ve compiled our own shopping list for injecting some ‘house of angel’ vibe into your home : )
1 // Personalise this timeless chair - paint the wood, dye the cover or buy a ready-made-red one from Mocka
3 // The Eagle watercolour by Makus Art from endemicworld is colourful without being too bold
5 // Wrap yourself in scarves that bring colour to your room when they’re not being worn
6 // Sharon makes her own glass beads, both to wear and to hang in her home, like this Movement of Light Necklace from MoMA
7 // Display your scarves and jewellery on playful hooks
