The timeless combination of blue & white...

Sea lapping on golden sands, sun peeping through clouds in the sky.. nature knows that blue, white and yellow are good friends... and always will be.

This months mood-board is inspired by a desire to create timeless interiors that outlast trends and seasons. Tones of blue matched with crisp white, softened with grey and warmed with gold - it's a fail-safe colour-combo that works magic every time.

Take white-washed floors, layer with a jute rug, throw a navy-striped cushion on the white linen couch and finish off with a gold tray filled with shells collected from the beach... and there you have a relaxed, yet grown-up, living room.

We put this colour combination through its paces with a collection of cushions from Adairs – royal navy paired with stone-washed linen, frayed egg-shell edges, subtle blue & white stripes and glorious gold.

Mr Kokako, by artist Guy Harkness, is the perfect art pairing for this cushion combo.

The new Resene Yuma has just enough yellow for it not to be beige and goes swimmingly with Resene Coast and Milk White. This pairing would be right at home as an external scheme for a coastal weatherboard home.

This combo works really well to cut though golden tones of wooden floors and furniture, a milky white like Resene White Pointer will provide crips contrast without being too harsh.
